It'd been a busy few weeks for Bod. He'd barely felt like he'd had a chance to sit down and relax. Between work, the new puppy and just regular around the apartment things, he'd run himself pretty damn ragged. It wasn't a bad ragged though, just a tiring ragged.

This morning, he was up fairly early and going about his normal routine when he caught a look at himself in the mirror. Apparently, during his busy week, he'd been forgetting to shave. Sure, it wasn't anything full formed and he probably wouldn't keep it but he had to admit that it didn't look that bad either. Not nearly as bad as he thought it would.

He guessed this answered Kate's question that she'd posed so long ago wondering if he could even grow facial hair. The answer was he could. And said facial hair didn't even look that bad.

So, take that doubters.

[NFB but open for calls/texts/people. I have a random day off that I'd forgotten about so posting and taking advantage.]

Kate glanced up at him. "I guess it does," she allowed. "Okay, it totally does. I'm not gonna bother trying to argue agaisnt that anymore. Yes. You were right. You and your beard."

"It's a separate entity now?" Bod asked, snickering. "That's a turn of events I didn't expect."

"Well, it's a new addition," Kate replied easily, shrugging. "It does make you handsome in a way different from the usual, though. I mean, I always want to climb you like a tree but still, it's a different kind of good-looking."

"Climb me like a tree?"

Bod wasn't sure he'd heard her use that turn of phrase before. It was...interesting.

"I don't know if I'm going to keep it for too long. It's fine how it is now but too much more and it'll get itchy and possibly hot. But, I like it now."

"Well, it'll be easy to get rid of it once you wanna," she replied with another shrug. "We'll just see who gets bored of it first."

Bod chuckled again and rubbed a hand against his chin. "I'm glad it looks all right, though. I wasn't sure how well it would grow in considering I'm blonde and hadn't ever gone this long without shaving before."

"I don't know, I'm not sure your face even can produce things that don't look good on you." Or maybe she was really really biased. "That could just be me, though."

"I think you're just incredibly biased," Bod said, amused. "You like me thus you like my face and say good things about it."

"Yeeeah, that might be it," Kate admitted. "But if I magically grew a beard, you'd be saying the same thing."

[therewaslife]

"Well yes, but I'd also be concerned since females don't typically grow beards unless it's a weird island weekend," Bod replied. "But yes."

"D'aww, I'd be your bearded lady!" Kate cooed. "Aww, my boyfriend would still love me if I was a circus freak."

"...something I never thought I'd hear you say," Bod admitted with another laugh. "But, I'd love you no matter what."

"Well, I'm kind of a freak to begin with," she pointed out easily, nuzzling his shoulder. "It's not that big a stretch."

"And you're very affectionate this morning as well," Bod noted with a soft smile. "Bearded lady or not, you are."

At that, Kate gave his hand a little squeeze. "Well, I love you."

"You love me, hmm?" Bod asked, smiling. "I had no idea. None at all."

[vanillajello]

"I could make it more obvious, if you'd like," Kate offered, snickering and looking up. "Since you're so clueless and all."

[therewaslife]

"I'm not that clueless but do feel free to make it more obvious for me," Bod invited. "I'd love to see what you come up with."

[vanillajello]

"You totally just admitted to being clueless!" Kate claimed, ignoring how that had been joking. "But I'm never going to miss a chance to tell you I love you."

"And I'll always enjoy hearing that from you, dear," Bod said, bringing her hand up to his lips and kissing her knuckles. "And the feeling is definitely mutual as well."

Kate smiled fondly up at him. "I like it when you call me dear," she shared. "Makes me feel like a lady."

Well, maybe not quite. But anyway.

"Well, you are indeed a lady," Bod said, chuckling. "And I like using that endearment so I guess that means I won't stop either."

"Lady Kate," Kate chuckled. She pulled her hand away, but only to turn and move to climb into his lap because that was kind of where she wanted to be right now. "I don't think anyone would believe you."

"Then, they'd be wrong," Bod said, sliding one of his arms around her waist and leaning back. "And I don't care about their wrong answers."

Kate snickered as she settled down on his lap, putting her hands on his shoulders. "Of course you don't. You see what you see and that's good enough for you."
