It'd been a busy few weeks for Bod. He'd barely felt like he'd had a chance to sit down and relax. Between work, the new puppy and just regular around the apartment things, he'd run himself pretty damn ragged. It wasn't a bad ragged though, just a tiring ragged.

This morning, he was up fairly early and going about his normal routine when he caught a look at himself in the mirror. Apparently, during his busy week, he'd been forgetting to shave. Sure, it wasn't anything full formed and he probably wouldn't keep it but he had to admit that it didn't look that bad either. Not nearly as bad as he thought it would.

He guessed this answered Kate's question that she'd posed so long ago wondering if he could even grow facial hair. The answer was he could. And said facial hair didn't even look that bad.

So, take that doubters.

[NFB but open for calls/texts/people. I have a random day off that I'd forgotten about so posting and taking advantage.]

Kate was – perhaps surprisingly – up already too, even though she wasn't going to be going to work until the afternoon. Sometimes your sleep schedule just fell into that kind of a pattern.

But she was currently busying herself with the coffee machine because priorities.

[I'm running off to play videogames for a few hours soon, but THE BEARD, IT CALLS TO ME.]

For the moment, Bod left the makings of his beard alone and went out to find Kate and see about getting something to eat. He'd woken up hungry and couldn't remember if he'd eaten last night.

"Kate?" he called, heading for the kitchen. "Are you in there or did you take Seamus out?"

"In here," Kate replied lazily. "Can't go take the puppy out before caffeine. Nope. Not happening."

Even if that meant getting some coffee in a mug and then going out with that in hand.

"It's not that bad," Bod chuckled, watching as the puppy in question came bouncing out of the kitchen to wind itself around Bod's feet and bark happily a few times. Bod swooped down and picked him up before padding into the kitchen. "I'm sure he'd be more interested in you than running around."

"Yeah but I can't make myself go outside without coffee," Kate replied, giving him and Seamus a little smile when they came into the kitchen. "I neeeeed my caffeiiiiine, Bod."

"Of course you do," Bod said, deciding to humor her. He put Seamus on the floor and he immediately went bouncing over towards Kate's legs. "Because the caffeine is going to make such a difference in how you step outside and let our dog relieve himself."

"The dog has like... nothing at all to do with it," Kate pointed out, while she lazily nudged Seamus with one foot. She'd play with him later, and this would have to do for now. "Unlike my awakeness."

"You're such an interesting person," Bod chuckled, shaking his head. "Such an interesting and unique person."

He leaned forward and kissed her cheek before moving to find something for breakfast.

"Your beard is all scratchy," Kate complained, rubbing her cheek. It wasn't even all that scratchy. "Ow."

"There's no way it was that bad," Bod replied, laughing. "No way. It's not even a complete beard."

"No, it's more of a beardling," she agreed, reaching out to stroke her fingers against it because... Actually, there wasn't even a real reason. "Still makes you look like a grownup."

"I thought you'd be grabbing me and forcing me to shave immediately," Bod said, sounding surprised. "Interesting."

[vanillajello]

Kate raised her eyebrows. "Uh, it's your face?" she pointed out. "I can tolerate it. At least for a while."

"Hey, I distinctly remember you telling me not to do something like this several years ago," he said, chuckling at her expression. "Can you blame me for thinking that?"

"Yes." Because she could blame him for whatever she wanted to. Nyah. "There's a lot of crap from years ago that doesn't really hold anymore."

"Well, maybe I'll let this grown in a little further," he said, just testing her reactions for the moment. He wasn't even sure he wanted to do that.

Kate shrugged before she went to get herself a mug for the coffee.

So non-committal.

"Interesting," Bod said, scratching his cheek. He laughed again and said, "I'll take Seamus out. Don't miss me too much."

With that, he scooped up the dog and went to get his leash so he could take him outside for his morning routine. Hopefully, it wouldn't take too long.

"And leave me all alone?" Kate called after him, lazily. "Saaad."

Not really. She was getting breakfast! That was pretty important to her right now.

"Our dog needs to go out," Bod said just before disappearing outside with said dog. Luckily, they weren't gone too long. Seamus did what he needed to do before they came back inside, Seamus trotting in front of Bod.

It was still about enough time that Kate had wandered into the living room with her coffee and a bowl of cereal.

"Yaaay you're back."

"Yes, you looked to have missed me terribly," Bod said, letting Seamus off his leash before coming into the living room. "Terribly."

"Well, I pined for fifteen seconds or so?" she offered, looking over. "And then I was busy with breakfast. The amount of marshmallows in my cereal is serious business."

"Well, I'm glad that your breakfast is so satisfying," said Bod with a little laugh. "I think I'm going to do a few things in the bedroom. Wash my face, wake up a little further."

"How very productive of you." Seamus bounced over to... headbutt her ankles, pretty much. She laughed a bit. "Wouldn't want to stand in the way of that."

She actually often interfered in his productivity.
