"This is Bod. Sorry to have missed you. Leave a message and I'll either call you back or just come find you. It's a small dorm, it won't be that hard. Bye now."
Boring voicemail or not, it did make him smile and he felt no real need to get out of bed to answer. Instead, he just rolled onto his stomach and propped his phone up so he could return the sentiment.
"You do sound bored," he said sleepily into the phone but definitely awake and alert enough to be precise with his language. "If there was anything I could do to help, I would. I'm still in bed myself. It's warm and comfortable. I don't know if I'll leave."
The harsh words made him laugh into the phone and he, at least, did try and make himself seem a little more awake.
"Why are you consumed with envy?" he wondered lightly. "You don't have a bed there that you can sleep in? I'd offer you a spot in mine but you're not here right now."
"Well I am right across from a furniture store right now," she remarked, gesturing towards the store, rather pointlessly, "but I doubt they'd like it much if I went there and slept. And I've had enough sleep, anyway."
"Mmm. I had a bit of a sleepless uncomfortable weekend. I'm using the excuse of catching up on my sleep to still be in bed right now," he shared, stretching a little. "How are things there besides boring? Is your family well?"
"As well as they ever are." He could make of that whatever her wanted to. "Uncomfortable, huh? Did you get stuck babysitting or were you a kid yourself?"
"I was a child," he told her, sighing quietly. "And slept in the graveyard both nights because that was familiar to me. It wasn't the most comfortable weekend I've ever had. I was fairly lonely because I expected to be able to see ghosts or Silas."
"I'm fine," he said, brushing that aside quickly. Those feelings of the past weekend just made him feel melancholy and he wanted to avoid that right now. "I didn't let it bother me."
A slight lie but a necessary one.
"Have you missed the island?" he asked, curious about the answer. "I'm sure it's missed you."
"Heeey, so Sir Flail-a-lot is still out of town, and I've pretty much done everything I wanted to do while I have the crib all to myself, so... Grab some stuff and come stay over. Oh, and if you can, bring some food. Okay, byyye."
Someone sounded like they were having a fairly good Wednesday afternoon.
Well, that was a nice voicemail to get when he'd been alternating between reading and staring at his ceiling for most of the day. Productive in very lazy ways, that was.
"I'll do just that," he said when he returned her message. "Consider my things in the process of being grabbed and food being next on the agenda."
Pause.
"I'll assume junk food because I know you," he said affectionately. "You're lucky I just went shopping for myself the other day. Anyway, I'll see you soon."

"Um, excuse you? Making animal noises at me is so never going to be the way to get in my pants, you hairy jerk! Let's be a little more mature next time, 'kay?"
"Hey there. I'm a potential customer looking to make some discreet purchases from your sex shop. Do you have some kind of loyalty card for discounts? Let me know."
Kate left Bod a voicemail sometime in the afternoon, knowing he was probably still at the library.
"Hey, it's me. Bobby left for the weekend and there seems to be island stuff happening, so... I just wondered if you'd wanna come over and play house with me. Or not, if you're getting sick of looking at me this week. Okay, love you, bye."

Someone was totally not confused when this journal's name changed while she was writing this had totally not forgotten their anniversary. Totally. It just took her little gift a few days to travel through the interdimensional postal service. Still, this afternoon it did.
It was a moderately-sized framed collage of photos of them together. In the center, there was a smiley picture of them in the hammock in Hawaii, the same one she had hanging on the wall in their room. Around it, she'd cut and pasted smaller pictures of them: from Hawaii, from Indonesia, from Colorado, from her senior prom, from moddable other places.
Crazy Phone Day!
"I don't think I'm going to love your nuts. Furthermore, you should get someone else to slap your troubles away."

"Oh. Well, that sounds like it sucked," she said. "But the island doesn't play nice, so no surprise there."
