Bod was awake. That wasn't anything surprising considering he tended to wake up early. What was surprising was that he was still pleasantly buzzing from last night (and he'd had nothing to drink) and he was already wondering how bad Kate's hangover was going to be when she eventually woke up.

He'd thought about getting out of bed and prepping some water and some painkillers but she tended to sprawl all over him when she was asleep and he didn't want to wake her up prematurely. She'd had a lot to drink and had gone home happy which meant the party could be considered a success but he wondered if she'd think that way right now.

Maybe she'd even swear off drinking. Bod knew it wouldn't last but it'd be cute to hear anyway.

Kate appreciated his decicion not to get up before she woke up, she really did. Because she had her head against his chest and a limb or two draped over him, and she really wasn't going to like waking up.

Too bad it was starting to happen, as she moved a bit and sighed.

Bod suggested that waking up was going to be hard for her so as soon as she started moving, he slid his fingers through her hair and started slowly and gently massaging her scalp to try and ease the pounding that he thought might happen.

He smiled down at her, pondering just how bad she was going to ache and stayed still while he started to wake up.

She made a little sound, and gave another soft sigh once she felt his fingers. It felt nice. Nicer than other things she was starting to feel.

Stupid consciousness, bringing gross feelings with it. She was starting to become aware of the pain in her head, and groaned a bit, trying to bury her face more against his chest.

"I know, I know," Bod murmured quietly, still massaging her scalp with his fingers and pulling the blanket a little further up onto her shoulders. "It hurts, I know. You'll be all right."

"Oh my God, I want to die," Kate complained once words came to her. Ugh, even her tongue felt gross. "Oh my God."

And that was even without actually remembering most of last night. It'd come back to her in a moment.

"No, you don't," he murmured again, keeping his voice low. "You're just feeling the after effects of your drinking. It'll pass. Should I get you some water? Some aspirin?"

Kate wasn't really listening. Her eyes opened wide, even if she didn't pick her head up. "... Oh God did Nathan talk to you about my boobs?" A beat. "Did Nathan talk to you about my boobs while I was making out with Ramona? Oh sweet zombie Jesus."

"Yes." He chuckled lightly. "And yes."

That seemed to answer everything succinctly enough. Poor Kate and her poor, poor hangover. Everything was going to be a surprise this morning.

"Oh my Gooood." Yeah, that was just going to be her favorite phrase today. "I made out with Ramona."

"You did," Bod confirmed with a half smile. "It was...interesting."

"Oh my God, I'm sorry." Another short pause. "... Wait, interesting?"

Sorry, last night was kind of coming back in bits and pieces.

"I'm not angry," he told her quietly, still sliding his fingers through her hair. "Don't apologize."

Another piece fell in place. "... You got hot. You were fanning yourself."

Bod balked at answering that immediately. Considering how badly she was feeling, he was pretty impressed at her recall right now.

"I did," he finally said, nodding. "Like I said, it was...it was interesting."

"Well okay." Not that knowing he wasn't angry at her did much for her hangover. She tried lifting her head but gave up when it made her wince. "Ugh."

"Should I get you that water yet?" Bod wondered, glancing down at her. "Or a cold compress?"

"Aspirin?" Oh, she sounded so hopeful there. "Anything."

[therewaslife]

"I'll find something," he said and started trying to extricate from her grasp. "Unfortunately, I'm going to have to get up to do that. I'm sorry."

[vanillajello]

"Ugggh." She rolled off him very, very carefully, then lay on her back with an arm strewn over her eyes, not caring that she'd left her top half exposed by moving. "I hate this."

"And yet, you seemed so happy about it last night," Bod said, taking a moment to look over her shamelessly before he rolled out of bed and stretched. "You were quite happy to be intoxicated."

[vanillajello]

"Yes, well." At least she hadn't been an aggressive drunk. "Remind me never to do that again."

That had been inevitable, hadn't it?

"Of course, I'll remind you but I don't know if you'll listen," Bod said honestly, sliding his boxer shorts on before going about getting her some water and some painkillers. "But, of course I'll remind you."

"No, you won't," Kate sighed. "You'll just let me drink because sometimes I do hot things when I'm drunk."

It didn't sound like she was too serious. Just headachey.

"That's not why I let you drink, Kate," he said, sighing at that. "You know that. I hope you know that."

"I know that." She did know that. She sighed, again. "My head hurts."
